    Default Crainkbaits on cypress

Went to cypress in Benton this morning, pulling cranks for a few hours, used pico cranks. Have no idea the depth they were because I just made a good cast and let them eat. Didn't wear them out, but caught a couple nice onesName: 20200811_095124.jpg

Good fish!! There were a couple of folks that used to crank there frequently, but I haven't seen any recent posts from them. The channel is a good place to drag them if you can find it, but I know it's twisted.

I pulled cranks a lot on it last year, and I've stayed on the channel several times, but seems like all I ever catch on the channel is small striped bass, I have better luck in the water down towards the boat ramp close to the dam, than I do pulling on the channel, thanks for the info tho

Cool. I was thinking of posts from TheyGottaEat...he used to drag them down the channel and do well, but I don't know more details than that. LOL Never tried it myself.

Lol I understand, I actually had someone tell me that when I first started fishing that lake, but I tried several times and never was very successful, so now I just troll around until I find some, and try to keep going back thru them, sometimes it works pretty good, I do appreciate you telling me about it tho

I still lurk in the shadows from time to time. I've missed out on a lot of fishing in the last year due to a couple herniated discs, but managed to pull some on cypress in the early and mid spring. Hoping I can get back out there soon. This is a great time of year for cranking. Always did well around the beach and surrounding water, trolling in about 14fow, running 8-12' deep. Theygotaeat lead me to that gold mine. Also can't rule out the banks down by the dam that drop off fast. 14-16fow and also lots of rapidly changing depths out from the dam. I lost TGE's number some time back when a phone crashed on me. Not sure if he's been fishing lately. It'd be ice to hear from him. Hopefully I can get back fishing soon and meet a few more local crankers. 'Till then, good luck fellas. Save me a few. 😉
A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work, unless you fish for a living.
