My mom came across an article by my late great friend Mr. Pete in an old (2006) Louisiana Conservationist and I thought you all might enjoy.
Tried to rotate the pics but they wouldn't upload after I rotated them, sorry.

Thanks for posting this. I sure do miss Pete. His articles in Louisiana Conservationist got me interested in fly fishing when I was a kid. I went on to meet many of my good friends ,including Pete, through that. Fly fishing is how I met my tournament partner Stephen (Fin-Addict Flies here on CDC). Pete was a true ambassador of Louisiana fishing and will continue to missed by many.

I remember Pete also. His tales of fishing Southwest Pass with a fly rod inspired me to do the same. Epic battle with Jack Crevalle on fly rod!! He told me Camille welcomed him to Buras and Katrina made him leave. He would come speak to the North Louisiana Fly Fishers and fish Bistineau when he came up this way.

Dwyane, thank your Mother for bring this forth. I see she is a saver too. After reading this I grabbed my stack of La. Conservationist looking to see if I had that issue. I used to have them all the way back to when they were free to all who wrote off to get them. Time and moving help me lose many but I have some back to 2002 including the March/April 2006 issue that your Mother dug up.
It was great to read it again. Pete had such a smooth writing style that kept you interested no matter what the subject. Even as a fly fisherman, he was down to earth and not high strung like many fly fishing purists are. I first started following Sneaky Pete, as he was known, by reading his columns in the Times Picayune newspaper, later I read him in the La Conservationist and then in his books. I have a cherished copy of his "Fly Fishing the Louisiana Coast" that he signed and sent me. Pete and I were pen pals and I only got to meet him once at our gathering at Pats in Henderson which I'm forever grateful for Bruce, I think, putting together. I'm not a big fan of fly fishing although I've done it a lot for bluegills with popping bugs and spiders, but I was a fan of Pete's.
The link below is to an article written by Roger Emile Stouff ,a great writer himself and another pen pal, in the New Iberia Banner news paper talking about how Pete ruined his life. Great reading is Roger's book "Native Waters" and many other true life adventures and mysteries he wrote. Look up Roger Emile Stouff on Amazon to see all of his works, I think you'll be glad you did. Roger is a descendant of the last chief of the Chitimacha tribe and in his books and articles tell the story of the Chitimacha tribe mixed in with his love for fly fishing.

Pawpaw, there is also a second article written by Pete in the back of that same magazine. I have read the article about "how Pete Cooper ruined my life", also a very good read. Sent from my LM-X210CM using Crappie.com Fishing mobile app

Dwyane you're one lucky fella to have fish with him and become a close friend. If it wouldn't have been for his illness I think I would have also fished with him, but it wasn't to be. Once he told me how sick he was and what the outcome would probably be, I figured he had enough things to do without me stepping in. I could have taken him to places just like he told us about in his article canal crappie. We have miles of such around here. I think I have a few other articles by him that I'll try to find. Thanks again for bringing Pete up to the forefront where he belongs.

Yea, it wasn't till after he passed on July 4th (and was in hospice care for 7 days before that) that I realized he was probably a lot sicker than he was letting on (to me) because our last trip to Bundicks was in March of that same year, I also caught my largest crappie to date on that trip, 2.4 lbs which will always be special to me. Really wished he would have had a funeral so we could have said our last goodbyes to him but that wasn't what he wanted, so I respect that.
