I use them all the time just to make jig changes quickly. When I need to re-tie I use hemostats to hold the tiny little things.

Use 'em on my jig poles and on my crankbait rods.
I tie 'em on the end of my main line. Then attach
a fluoro leader 2-5ft long depending on what I'm
doing. End of leader will have one on for jigs, or
    #1 snap for cranks.

Like RMGeorge said, the hemostat takes care of the tie on problem. The only problem I've had while trolling is a fish cross one of my other lines and the fast snap
collecting the line the fish is on. You have to bring both rods is to get the line unsnapped. I use them then say I'm never going to use them again. Then I use
them again and say I'm never going to use them again. They are in my boat and will probably stay there. I'll probably use them again.
    Tell'em I'll be there.

I use them, or versions of the same thing all the time.
