Weatherman forecast 0-4 kt winds and 20% chance of rain. WCGW! Got shiners at Toledo Town and headed to "Sammy" half way there the rain started. It was like those old movies where they were throwing buckets of water on the actors! Wind easily 25-30 kts! Glad to be in the truck! Got to the landing and watched the rain for 30 minutes. Then, it was gone and settled into 8 kts of wind. Fished the few spots I found at the gathering, nothing. Headed up 1215 and checked another spot, same. Looked at map on the bird, and saw a drop-off into deeper water, then looked at the water and there was a tree out there. Checked it with DI and SI and there was brush and fish! Dropped a minnow rig and quickly got a bite, big fish, but lost it at the boat. Tied up and caught 4 plus 1 throwback and another early release. That's when the lightning started, north of me, but close enough that it was time to leave. Nice fish cleaning station at SM Park. Got home with cleaned fish and washed boat. More time driving than fishing, but I think I've found a repeatable pattern. Anyone know a good weatherman?
Good catch all things considered!
All the weatherman has to say is 50% chance of rain or sun, you pick!
I've got the WeatherBug app. on my phone and it's been accurate for me the last couple of years

Way to stick with it till you find some. Nice fish. The only certain in this life is the weather men will get the forecast wrong!

I went back yesterday afternoon. My "magic spot" gave up nothing. Tried a lot of trees, nothing. Caught a few bream and catfish around piers in Lanaan. Also near the Osprey nest in SM. Talked to a local who caught a few crappie on the bridge. He said he had to move a lot.
On a more positive note, I caught a few crappie in a backwater of the Red River, but it was a bit scary going through a hole in the rocks with all the current.
