Default Looking for Lake Chicot advice

I have a family trip planned at Chicot state park for 4 days this weekend. Planning to go after some sacalait since we will have plenty of time to catch bream if we aren’t successful. Any suggestions on where to fish on the lake. I’ve caught 1 sacalait there and it was by accident while bream fishing so I know they’re there, just never had luck finding them. Thanks in advance.

Same here. I’ll probably go after the bream and chinquapin mostly but would love to find some sacs. Going to be fun either way.

Thanks. I know where the big grass bed is on the north end. Thinking about trying bass on topwater there early one morning. Might try to find a few slabs while I’m there. Loaded up and ready to go. Heading up there tomorrow midday with the wife and kids. I’ll post a report no matter what species we get into.

Sorry, I just saw your post. I've been at Toledo Bend the last 2 days and did not check in to CDC. Chicot is pretty much my home lake. Definitely fish the North end. In fact , go ahead and trailer your boat and launch at the north end. You can start fishing right there where you launch. Fish between the buoys and the levee in the grass. I fish a jig under a cork about 18". You'll catch bream, crappie and chickapin on the same thing. Blue and white is my favorite color on a 1/32 ounce jighead. If no luck there, go into the trees on the opposite side of the buoys and dip jigs next to the trees. If nothing there, go to the Conservation Lodge cove. You're not far from it, but you have to know where it is to find it. check a map. a friend caught 12 there 2 weeks ago on Cajun cricket. Pretty grassy though. Good luck.

Thanks. We are staying in a cabin so we fished the south end yesterday. Not much luck. Only about a dozen bream and chinquapin b/w my dad and I. I’ll head north today.

Nope. Tried for a while Saturday with no luck. Ended up bream fishing the rest of the weekend. Caught enough for a good fish fry. I have trouble at places not named Old River lol. Still learning.
