When I was a kid many many moons ago, my Dad had a neat setup. He had a regular pirogue with pointed stem and stern. He also had a reel type mower with a 2 hp green Clinton engine on it. In summers he cut grass with it and in winter he removed it from the mower and put it in the pirogue an went duck hunting. There was a short shaft that came out of the stern of the pirogue right above the bottom. He coupled it to the motor with a piece of heavy hose and some hose clamps. Once he reached his destination he would turn around and sit it the bow end thus raising the prop out of the water to make it easier to paddle. I remember the day he got rid of the engine. It had set idle on a shelf in the shed for years and one day he picked it up and carried it out to the roadside for pickup.

Good deal, I remember those days, when you had to be very smart to survive.
Great story and amazing memory. I can see the painting.
I remember, at least what I believe to remember, my pops performing many Herculean type feats that I style doubt my memories to be correct bc of how amazing they were.
I remember pops moving a shrimp boat in the back yard, a few feet only, but I do see him holding and pulling from the tongue only.....and me repositioning the log.
Prob not correct, but that’s what i remember and what me makes me smile
