Default All crappie on Black Bayou Benton seem to have disappeared!

For the last 3 days, I have beaten the banks with a beetle spin and also fished my favorite brush piles without a single bite! I have used both shiners and jigs.

Water temps have been around 64-65 degrees.

Anyone else been out here lately?

In North La most of the Crappie in 8 to 12 foot of water suspended 2 feet off the bottom. with the water temp in that range they could be at 4 feet. Just shallow enough for the most expensive sonar to be useless for seeing fish

Me and dad have been out there almost a week straight. Pull up to a spot and catch one or two right off the bat, and then nothing else. Move to another spot, and repeat. Best bite has been a hour or so before dark. It’s really picking my brain to know these fish are ready to spawn and have been (by looking at their eggs) for a month now. We fished today on cypress from about 11- 7:30. Caught 12. We even hit some deeper brush piles and picked up 2 good slabs in 14 FOW. These fish don’t know what to do, or they’re just out smarting me again.

I get nearly daily reports from Cypress and for the last month, they're tearing them up in 4 fow or less. Mostly on shiners, but the jig under a cork still working.
A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work, unless you fish for a living.
