Hey guys, newbie to forum. What line do you use? I usually use the camo from BPS and it's strong but yesterday I used the segar 8lb flouro and did not seem to get as many bites.

I did find the segar was super strong. I left my poles on a bridge and dipped for grass shrimp. when I got back, one was missing and the other had something on it. To make a long story short, I found the missing pole with a shoepic still on it (about 4lbs) and the other had a 3ft gator on it. I had to snap the flouro because the gator could not break it by trying to run.

I was wondering what line you guys use. because I did not get as many bites as I used to. I thought the flouro would get me more bites than the camo. visability was good down to about 2 feet with a brown tint. Going back to camo, but wow did the flouro give me a fun day. Ended with 1 sac, 1 nice bass and 3 shoepics (5lbs, 4lbs and one about 3 lbs) and a fight with a gator. I have pics but not sure how to post yet.

Wow -- what an entrance to CDC -- Glad to have you here -- I seem to be untrainable making Post and have to recruit the wife for Important stuff... My favorite Line is Berkley Vanish Floro and I would catch 10 fish to one that my Brother caught. The line Diameter is a lot smaller than other lines and does not sing like Braid

Sounds like an exciting day. By the way Welcome to the forum. I can't help with what line to use because I use some of each and don't really notice much difference in the catch. I fish with light line, mostly 4 pound test mono or 10/2 braid but I do have others Like 10 pound Stren and 8 pound Mr. Crappie that I've won at our gatherings. I don't let any go to waste.

ps: what part of the state are you fishing in.

Welcome aboard, think I would give it a little more time. Try one with it and another with your camo. Give it a fair shot.

I'm in the Lafayette area. I fish Henderson, Gueydan, Fausse Point, anywhere around here I think the are biting. I was in Charenton yesterday.

I respooled all of my lines with flouro, but I will respool a couple with the camo and fish side by side.

    Thanks guys!

    Welcome
I agree with Cray, give it a couple more trips and see....put a bait in front of a hungry fish’s mouth and it isn’t so worried about the line.

Welcome from Baton Rouge....I fish Henderson 99% of the time.....just my own opinion, but I do not think line choice makes that much difference....several other important factors will affect the bite such as presentation and color....fishing fast or slow....fishing the right depth....picking the right spot to fish....etc...years back, J B Salter got me started on 8# Hi Vis Gold Stren for sacs and I have stuck with it....for bass, I use a 50# white braid that I have to order online...folks say, fish can see that, but I do not believe that.....I have never broke a fish off using it.....I believe that a bass is to focused on a bait to notice the line...kind of like you playing with a toy mouse on a stick and string with your cat....just my opinion....

I use 10lb hi vis Berkeley line 99% of the time . It really helps when I catch the larger non target fish , plus I can usually straighten my jig hook
When fishing deeper than my pole is long.
I should add I rarely fish clear water tho.
