    Default First Cranking Trip

These pics are from my brothers first ever cranking trip. He fished Cypress Bayou reservoir in Bossier. He finished with 8 slabs and missed a couple nice ones. I told him, "You're hooked now for sure".

He's a member here on the forum, but he mostly fishes for Bass with his son. I'll work on getting him involved.

Nice catch. What does he use the big rear deck for?

That is called a fantail, it used when you pull in your trawl and set the trawl boards on each side of the motor. It's a little out of place in Bossier City but pretty comon south of I 10. It also makes a good platform to fish off of.

He was displaced from South Louisiana by Katrina. That's a trawling deck for shrimping. It's a Hanko's hull. I believe they're made in Morgan City.

That explains why it's in North LA. I'm aware of it's traditional use. I've pulled a trawl for many hours in my Lafitte skiff.
