    Default Ivan Lake 7/16/18

Tried night fishing for the first time with lights for crappie. It was fun had about a million shad it seemed like circling the wagon all night. The fish took about 5 hrs to bite, could see them on the graph but I guess they weren't hungry yet. Thought about moving but in the back of my mind I was thinking any minute now with this buffet I had going on.
Anyways we caught 9. The bite started at 230am and ended about 330. I missed several fish. My wife got her a 3hr nap while we were fishing. I woke her up when I caught the 1st one and she went to fishing. About 30 minutes went by and her cork went flying across the water she set the hook and caught the biggest of the night right at 1.6lbs. I did however had one break off right out of net range that was a big one.
15ft of water fish were 6ft deep lights were at 2 to 3ft. Water temp at surface 93*. It sure was nice not having that sun beat down on us.Name: 20180715_190854.jpeg

Good post and catch. The dark of night definitely has it's advantage's over the "dog days sun". lol
Pass the "Sportsman Baton" on before you're gone, promote values for others to hunt and fish upon.

Not bad I bought 2 of them thermocell lanterns and they left us alone all night. I have green lights in my boat and the gnats and other bugs didn't seem to care. If I hit that headlamp though, you got swarmed in about 30 seconds. Bait that hook fast no worries lol.
Had a water snake try to get in on my minnow action, he made a hasty departure.
