Hello all, i'm new to the site and sac a lait fishing. I live in Lafayette so my go to places are Henderson and Lake Martin. I have a Lowe 175 stinger with a 75 good boat but I have no real experience sac a lait fishing and don't really know where to start. Tried fishing the I-10 pilings with artificial baits and shiners with no luck. Would appreciate any and all help.

Welcome to the forum.
I hear lake Martin is a tough place to catch fish but some people do.
I’ve never fished Henderson. It hear it’s a great fishery.....spending time on the water and learning is the best way in my opinion.
Good luck

Thanks for the welcome. My last trip to Henderson was a bust, but here are some pics from a trip in may. The Bluegills were nesting.

The Gills are still nesting on sandbars deeper -- Like 10 feet deep

Welcome aboard from Arkansas. You'll get more information on here than you can use. Time on the water and advise from
the locals will make it happen.
Tell'em I'll be there.
Welcome......forget Henderson til fall.....check out oxbows off Red/ Miss river....they carry better summer bite.

Welcome bug! Check out the beginners n mentoring forum on this site, and the guest speakers section. There is a ton of info on here. It's been years since I fished the basin. Most of Louisiana's similar waterways produce better when there is a little (not too much) current. So look for cover near areas with a bit of current. Also study what the fish eat in the waters you fish. I remember catching a bunch of sacs on a bridge about 10 miles south of Ramah. They were feeding on grass shrimp, and a white FleFly really worked well. Other baits are crawfish, and and shad imitation. I never really caught much at Butte La Rose, but I know people do.
Study up and try different areas and baits. You will find them and learn to catch them!
By the way I returned to the bridge several times, but never caught another fish there. I think that area is posted now.
