I read an article this week-end about the crappie spawn. The questions were asked to a biologist with the LSU Ag Extension Service. These guys usually know what's going on.
When asked when is the best time to fish the crappie spawn he relied. "February". He also said that crappie are the first of the pan fish to spawn. He did not say the following but I read this in one of my books. It seems to make sense. Nature has put the crappie spawn and the blue gill spawn right next to each other because the small crappie tend to feed off of the young blue gills that hatch soon after they do, And one of the best baits to use during this time is a jig that mimics the small blue gill young

I don't know about the rest of ya"ll, but my calander says February. Starting this week end IT'S ON!
