I got out that new $45 impact screwdriver and placed the Carb between my feet and removed the Jets and it was Crud City ... Cleaned the crud out and used Tip Cleaners used on Cutting Torch tips to remove everything from Pin holes and blew everything out before reassembly.... I do not know why it ran that good before It died, I did wash it out first I watched U-Tube how Sea Foam made a motor that would hardly run start running better until everything smoothed out and preform very good on the water.. One thing I did learn there was to slide a rag under things in the motor.. if a bolt or screw is dropped it can be found easily and no lost parts Cleaned the plugs also

Sounds like you need to get a new motor sooner than later and get to fishing then!

Well it is running again in the Yard. I picked up two cans of sea Foam at Auto Zone. Instead of $12 they were on sale for $8 --- I saved $8 by buying Two - and Another Pre- Fuel Filter ... Even though it has a new one on now I am not ready for another Breakdown ... The Four Stroke that pulled me in Sho runs Quiet

Wish I was closer to come and help. It sounds to me it could be as simple as a bad connection on a hose. What make and model is it. And how is the fuel tank connected to the engine.

My dads yamaha did the same type thing and it was the hose connection from the tank to the engine. When it was cold the o-ring would seal and from being in the sun or just heat from the motor it would loose prime while sitting. Could crank it and run just enough to think it was good, but die when you throttle it up. I had to replace the o-ring and ziptied the connection together so it would be a 100% square connection.

My original trouble all started with the boat not being used for about 5 years ,, as I was fishing with my brother in his Boat... The fuel lines deteriorated internally and varnish and sludge built up bad. The Tank was cleaned out and new fuel lines replaced The old Fuel was black . The Carb was cleaned as best as possible because the Jets would not break loose to clean out correctly. The motor has a inline filter with a sediment bowl ... The screen was damaged from someone cleaning Previously was full of trash even though the lines had been replaced but allowed gunk to get back into the carb.. But with the jets still firmly in place. The motor ran good for about an hour then would not crank. when it did start it would not run.. the primer bulb was always firm so it was getting fuel ----- Even though the tank had been emptied the new fuel had broken loose gunk that got past the filters and trash was in all the wrong places ... The jets finally removed there was loads of trash below those jets ... A lot of it was rust particles from the original fuel filter that would not dissolve in Cleaner... Emptying the tank into a clean 5 Gal bucket and proper rinsing there is no more trash - New lines , Filters, and the separator replaced with a different type screen every thing should be right now ..

Well I hope all that works. Some times when the engune runs impropperly it is harder to figure out than when it doesnt run at all. The fact that it did run for a while and then didnt is what leads me to what i said earlier. The fuel line did not loose prime but from the engine fuel connector to the carb might have. After you fished, how long would it run when it cranked?
