Default Bickham Dickson Park in Shreveport

Has anyone fished the lake at Bickham Dickson park since it opened back up recently? I had never been there so I went a couple of weeks ago. Nice little lake. I mainly just trolled around looking, caught a few nice catfish. There were a handful of boats and kayaks out there, and the pier was full of anglers. It has been closed for several years so I would imagine there could be some nice fish in there.

I've been 3 times in the last month and have managed 3 one day, 4 another and zeroed last Thursday. I haven't fished there enough to figure them out yet but this Thursday and Friday I'll be out there hunting them again.

We used to have a member who fished it regularly and according to him caught fish. He fished from the pier and fished under it.

I used to fish it quite often ten years ago. We used to tear them up. I have a jon boat I bought just for places like that, but haven't registered it yet. I plan to get out there soon and see if I can get on them again. This time of year through Jan., we did great in 10-12fow on tops. Not sure that's still the case though.
A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work, unless you fish for a living.

There's one area that can, and it's right where I've always caught fish. That's why I want to get my Jon boat registered, so I can throw the trolling motor back on. I was going to put two mounting plates on it and use a set of rod holders I already have. It's not very deep, so it'll be short line city.

You should be able to use your big boat just jack the outboard up out of the water
I was checking into fishing it just before it closed

I've seen guys with bass boats out there with the outboard trimmed up, but the front launch is a little shallow. The back launch isn't accessible yet. I might ride by there after work and see if you can get a heavy boat in without backing your truck up to the cab.

No way to launch a big boat out there anymore unless you want to back down the bank by the pier. They added a kayak launching spot with a bunch of pea gravel down there but you can't back a trailer in there. I was told the city is not gonna open the rest of the park which includes the concrete launch but who knows. I was out there today and only found one crappie and 2 bass willing to bite .
