    Default Old River Morganza 8-13

Took my lil fishin buddy to Old River this morning. Got on the water at 7 and fished til 11. It was slow but we ended up with 10 keepers and probably 10-15 throw backs. Only a few sac a lait. The water was still a little high but starting to drop again after a little rise last week.

This was the first time I let him use a hook since we didn't have his little brother with us and he ended up catching half the fish, a few without any help from me, including the biggest bream of the day.

We fished around 4 different floating rafts, picking up a few fish at each. They were in anywhere from 7-35 ft of water. Caught the bream on crickets about 3-4 ft deep in the shade on each raft and caught the few sacs on shiners at our last stop in 35 fow 15-20 ft deep. Also picked up a nice catfish before calling it a day.

Ate a good lunch at the landing then headed home. We will definitely be doing this again but might wait until it cools down a little (I've got tree stands to get ready anyway).

I played guide the first couple hours. He had 4 fish in the boat before I hooked onto one. I don't mind if that's how it goes every time. If he wouldn't have gotten bored and kept fishing instead of playing on Google Earth on the phone, we might have ended up with 30 bream since I was persistent on catching some sac a lait without much luck.

Doesn't get any better than that.
