    Default darbonne gathering 2017

hey guys. i have dreaded writing this post for some time now. but i talked to green shiner today and i need to go ahead and write it.

first, i hate to admit this, but i have not been fishing since darbonne last november. my world is busy as a cat covering turds on a marble floor. brody has sports every weekend and they have changed my work schedule to working every third weekend. and to top that off, my boss said no one is taking vacation in november and december. we have 4 rigs running at work, and a couple of work over rigs to boot. that being said, i am busy, really busy.

i am gonna have to step down as the coordinator of the fall darbonne gathering. i just can't swing it right now. i will be happy to help whomever wants to pick the ball up and run with it. but my world is toooooo upside down to try to do this. yall deserve some one that can fully focus on this and do it right.

on a different note, the group cabin is booked up the weekend of our gathering. they won't let ya book it but 11 months in advance. and this year, they were going to require that it be paid in full when ya book it. so my plan was to wait on my tax refund, but when i got my refund, it was already booked. i am so sorry guys for dropping the ball on the group cabin. i just got a bunch of irons in the fire. i know that's not a good excuse, but it the truth.

i saved ALL my email correspondence with the companies that donated items for our door prizes. i will be happy to send them to anyone that wants to spearhead the gathering of items to give away. i hope yall understand that this is the highlight of my fall. and it makes me very sad to write this post. but, like i said, yall deserve someone that can give this the attention it deserves.

i just hope i can make it over there to fish. only time will tell.

    i miss yall,

    doc

One good thing to note Mark is that this oil and gas business is finally picking back up slowly. Your area of the Haynesville Shale has seen an explosive growth in the past few months, rig count more than doubled. I'm glad you held on, those of you now have to pick up for those that were laid off. You're in a good spot, it'll even out before long. Hang tight, I know.

Thanks for what you've done for our group up there. You'll be starting back up the gathering there before you know it.

Mark, hopefully you've always realized how much we all appreciate everything you do. It's a group effort, but it does take someone to spearhead it and you've done a wonderful job.

I was looking at the rates, and it looks like they've gone up $30/night to $150. I'm afraid that might put me out of it this year as well, at least for overnight stays. My typical trip would be $450, plus food/gas/bait....and while the experience has always been worth way more than that to me in terms of fun and memories, the old bank account might break under the pressure. We'll play it by ear, and may just drive over early one morning and home that night. Depends on what the family wants to do.

Anyway, thank you again Mark! I hope someone is able to step into your very big shoes and help out this year.

The Reserve America website this morning shows six cabins remain available for the second weekend in November.

Thanks for the memories Mark, I have enjoyed coming the last couple of years. I hope someone does continue hosting this great event. I want even know if can make this years event, also due to work transferring me to another location. When my new work schedule is set and I know I can be there, I will gladly help anyone in anyway I can.
If you dont have time to do it right the first time, when are you going to find time time to fix it.
