    Default Used pirogue

Anyone know of any used pirogues for sale around the Shreveport area? I have a kayak now but thinking about selling it for a larger vessel for crawfish/cats. Really looking to stay around 100-200 range doesn't matter the looks as long as it floats. Willing to swap the kayak if anyone wanted.

Just some friendly advice, don't swap your kayak for a pirogue.
A kayak is a fish catching machine. Catfish? You can catch catfish with a broomstick, line n hook in any vessel. But if I was running lines by lonesome, I'd prefer a yak over a pirogue. There's not a whole lot diff in room unless you're nimble on your feet.
Crawfishing is another animal, but I'd just find a beer can flat to pull behind me. Wldnt consider flotation for riding. Crawfishing for a family boil is work.

I see your point and appreciate it. I guess the only problem I have the catfish when I run lines. In my current kayak I can either use a stringer or a cooler, but there's not too much room for a cooler that'll fit cats. That's why I was thinking a pirogue I can at least throw them in the boat with me.

I'll keep a lookout for ya. It's pretty hard to find one with papers for some reason, if your gonna run a trolling motor it's a must have. I bought a WaterMoccasin last summer off Letgo.com for 175 bucks with papers and my bass boat sure spends a lot of time covered up now. Love me some pirogue fishin'.

Thanks for that. You got yourself a steal on that moccasin. Went to their store down in stonewall and wanted a new gel coated with a trailer but the price range was too high for the Mrs. Lol.

Not sure what yak you are using but I have a Native Manta Ray 14 ft. I put out 2 Trot Lines this past weekend totaling 40 hooks, with it. I have room behind the seat for 36 qt. Ice chest. I have had a pirogue and I do like them but they get blown around a lot in the wind like a canoe. Lots of sail area with those sides. But they do have more floor space. I doubt anyone that has a decent pirogue will swap or sell it, however there are several good plans available for building your own. Just an idea. Hope you get what you want.

Yeah mine is only a 10ft. I was talking to a guy on the kayak forum and he said he uses burlap sacks to hold his catch of cats. I'm going to give it a try and for crAwfish I may need to just tow something behind for the bugs.

Just a thought --- Take one intertube and stretch it around an Ice Chest then will it with air,,,, Tie a rope at one end before it gets Inflated.
