    Default Vernon

Brought my daughter and dad fishing yesterday. Wasn't sure how it would be after all the rain, but we made it happen. Kept 41 to make the grease hot a few times and had a good time being out. Fished brush and stumps in 6-10ft of water. Mostly used shiners, but caught some on jigs as well.

Nice! I have always heard good things about that lake and crappie but have never fished it.

Very nice catch. I'm supposed to be heading that way soon. I have a friend that lives in Leesville who has invite us up for a stay. He has caught some slabs of 2 pounds in Vernon, he also fished the Bend and Anacoco. When we go I hope we are as successful.

I've just started fishing it this year. I haven't caught any giants, but I do get a few in the boat. I'm still learning so maybe a big one will fall in my favor one day. I've never fished anacoco, but heard it is good too. Vernon and anacoco are very stumpy. Hope y'all catch some wherever y'all decide to go!

Keep fishing it and maybe you can give me some pointers when the time comes. My friend is mostly a bass fisherman.

Nice report. My dad grew up nearby (kisatchie) and fished it a lot back then along with annacoco but mostly for bass I try to get up that way every year to our family property and wade the creeks . It's a special place to me and might have to start hauling the boat when i go to fish Vernon

Also good to see a correctly filleted crappie-sacalait. Got to cut that little v section. Can't waste the meat plus makes for the best tasting piece

Thanks! My dad showed me here recently that I was wasting that piece. Sounds like some good memories were made on that family property. We have some property on caney, a lot of hunting and fishing memories made in that area.
