Today decided to head out late because the parking lot would probably be full a first light. So we launched around 2 PM and there were quite a few parking spots because some came in early, I don't blame them for coming in early as the sun was real hot at 2.
We motored over to one canal we haven't fished yet this year to start our day. I thought we would get some shade from the willows but the sun was too high and the trees only helped now and then. A breeze finally picked up which help bring the temperature down. That canal only produced one bass and one nice ''shoe-pic''. I kept it this time as my neighbor told me he wanted everyone I catch. Around 4 we hit the same canal as last week and picked up 4 more bass, one sac, and one mo "shoe-pic''. Linda hook and lost a couple other sac at the boat. We fished until 6:45 and headed in. We picked up the boat and got home right at sunset. I would have liked to have stayed until dark but Linda didn't like the idea so we left early enough to make it in before dark.
It was a wonderful day except for the heat for a little while. For the second trip in a row I caught a bass while throwing my jig over a branch and letting it dangle in the water until I got one to come get it. It's was also the second trip in a row that we caught "shoe-pic''. I don't ever remember catching any in the grove before. We witnessed another fisherman catch and release a bass of around three pounds, and a catfish of about 5 pounds.
Very tired and heading to bed,
