Always good to bring your good luck charm. Whats with all the pole holders?
That was the theme for today. We left the house with a light breeze but by the time we reached the Grove it was kickin plus water was high and muddy. We made our way to a quite canal out of most of the wind but no dice. The fish wouldn't co-operate. We then headed deeper into the marsh to get away from the muddy water and we found better water. We fished jigs and shiners but it took Linda to break the ice by throwing a beetle spin up against the bank. Wham, bass number one in the boat. I was pitching a shiner up against the bank when I had a bass gobble him, bass number 2 in the boat. A little further down another bass hit my shiner. Then it was Linda's turn and now we were even at 2 bass each. I had one more chance to come out on top when a larger bass hit my shiner and got hooked up but it headed into some grass and came off. We called it a day and headed home. Well we ran into something I had never seen before. The main Orange Grove canal had 2 foot waves in it and I had to idle for a mile to the intracoastal and calmer waters. It wasn't the best day but it was better than some and we are thankful for it.

Ephesians 1:13
I'm old and get tired real easy. They are also useful to spider rig down the middle of canals at this time of year.

Sounds like a fierce friendly showdown.……
I worked and the misses waddled.
We both wish we were in yalls shoes.
High hopes for the future bc it sounds memorable.
We can't all whisper fish to the boat like some....
If ya can snap a better pic of that setup Mr Gene I'd appreciate it. Wldnt use it on the river, but have been wondering if a light rod holder setup would be good for the pits in 20-30' of water.

Adam, watch what you wish for. To get in my shoes consisted of living many years and now being on the downhill slide. Enjoy your youth and your family to the fullest because before you realize it you, God willing, will be in my shoes. I will post a picture later of the rod holder.
JR, it's hard to leave the dock without her (my good luck charm) and many times her suggestions put us on fish including my personal best bass of 7 pounds.
You nailed it Dwayne, bass filets, fried onions rings and baked sweet potatoes.
