Salvinia got me
Was fishing Black Lake and wind blew Salvinia in and when I ran thru it motor quit . I had no alarm thought it was and electrical. Still I trolled to landing and loaded up. Went to mechanic and need to overhaul. So don't think I can just run thru it and it will be alright.
I guess I will be boat or motor shopping.

Hate to hear that....hope you get it fixed before the spawn starts.....I always heard if you have to go thru Salvinia to stop when you are thru it, put it in reverse and get down hard on it to blow it out....but come to think of it, the motor is still sucking water into the motor the same way so I don't see how that would help...opinions?....

Reversing the motor only reverses the prop to clear it, the water pump continues to suck and pump the same way in forward or reverse. I wonder why the alarm didn't sound. That would have been the key that a problem had developed.

Aw man I hate to hear that! Were you at the bridge or at Dixon's? I was at the bridge from 10:30-2:00 yesterday then pulled out and went to Dixon's and fished the Stretch till dark. I only saw 1 other boat I figured the sleet kept everybody home. Were you in a green aluminum Lakesport north of the bridge?

I hate to hear that the salvinia got your motor. I was there a few weeks ago. Launched at Dixon's. I had to stop a couple of times and clean out water pump intake. I promised myself that I would not be back. A few fish are not worth a 90 HP Mercury.
