Default Fuel bulb not getting tight like to used to ...

The bulb from the tank to the motor that is. It does pressure up somewhat, but not tight like it did before. Yet, the motor fires right up. Concerns me somewhat. I refuse to use ethanol gasoline, and have an EFI four stroke engine.

Yes, I'm on the water regular - but don't post much about catching. I catch four or five and call it good. I like goofing off and sightseeing. Thinking about replacing the bulb, but not sure since it fires right up immediately. If I do replace, should I replace just the bulb, or the entire fuel line from the tank to the motor? I'm thinking the check valve in the bulb is being ignorant. Thanks.

My thoughts only. Replace the whole line. And I am like you. I like to get out and ride. To me that is part of the whole experience.

I'm with Deacon. I would replace everything, instead of replacing just the bulb. Just my humble opinion. You may also want to check your fuel filters.

I've never even put my hands on my fuel bulb. Boat is nearly 3 years old. Now y'all have me wondering.

My bulb is 14 years old I pump it 4 times every trip and it keeps on working. We had a saying offshore you have to learn about the levers ( if it is working lever her alone). There is nothing better on the water than peace of mind about your equipment. A hose is A cheap fix.

If it is the bulb, the motor can run perfect at an idle at your house....but put it on the water under a load and it will choke down......another thought though...the fuel line on mine had a 2 foot long grey section between the bulb and the motor....there was a black hose coming out of the motor for about one foot and connected to the grey hose.....the grey hose went bad and gas was leaking at the splice in front of the motor.....I replaced the grey with a black hose I got at Pep Boys.....like the others said....hose & bulb is cheap....especially if you are 4 miles from the landing & can only do idle speed....

Randy the bulb is only a pump that has a check valve in it to only allow the fuel to flow one way. Once the fuel has reached the engine and the line is full the bulb should become hard unless the check valve is leaking. Once the fuel line is full up to the engine the engine's fuel pump take over. My boat is 10 years old and the only time I've pumped the bulb was when I first got it, and once when I drained the tank because of water in it. Other than that it's crank and go. I never disconnect the fuel line. I do agree with the idea of fix it if it's not right.

Well I run a 2 stroke Tohatsu and I always pump my bulb. Now you guys have got me wondering?! I did have a little trouble with it Saturday, it would get up and plane out with no problem but when running full speed, it would skip every few seconds, didn't really effect speed but I don't like the skipping. Any ideas?
