Glad it was a shut down and not a fire or explosion. Great picture of Warren and the catfish.

Made a trip with Warren(marineaok) today. Went looking for anything and that is what we found. Caught crappie, goggle eye, bream, gar, barfish, catfish and bass and hooked a few that would not come up. All tight lining a junebug/chartreuse curly tail on a 1/32 oz jig. Tried other baits, but no go. On the way home the adventure got bad. Noticed a lot of smoke in the air at Plaquemine. The Dow flares were going like crazy. They had a power failure that shut down the whole plant. Could not even inject steam to the flare tips to help with smoke from the hydrocarbons. Also, they had a small release of chlorine. If we had been 2 minutes sooner, we would have cleared it. But instead we sat on La. 1 until they decided to reroute us to the river road behind the plant. Just a small 1.5 hour inconvenience. But from 2 old plant workers like us, it was nothing compared to if we had been there in the plant. That is where Warren retired from. He had never seen a complete plant shutdown in his career. Back to the report. We kept 3 crappie, 2 bass, 2 catfish and the barfish. Once again Warren caught a big one. 8 lb 10 oz cat. One of mybass was over 2 lbs. Like I said all on jigs. A couple pics. Warren and his big cat and a couple of the smoke and flaring.

Redge, if I remember, steam is actually dry and full of oxygen. It has to be hot to stay in this gas state. By injecting it into the flare tips it causes the fire to be hotter and that makes it burn more particles. That is why it "looks" cleaner. Still burning the same amount of hydrocarbons. Also, when you pass a plant and see white"smoke" that is usually just water vapor. Some caused from steam cooling off. I hope this is correct. Anyone know better feel free to correct me.
