    Default Bayou Black

Yesterday Linda and I detoured from our usually trip to the Grove and headed further down Bayou Black to the Turtle Bayou area. It's just about 15 minutes more of driving and about the same boat time. Turtle Bayou is an area that I have fished a few times over the years but I not really familiar with it. After seeing some pictures sent to me by my brother in law of all the bass they caught I though I'd give it a try. First let me say the marina, Bob's, can be a very active place and sometimes parking is at a premium. Yesterday it was fairly quiet and we were able to park in the first row near the launch which is a plus for Linda. In the past I had only gone on week ends but I think I will make more mid week trips there.

The picture my BIL sent showed me some very nice bass, some going 5 pounds. Well we didn't catch any like that but we did put nine in the boat plus 3 slabs. All were caught on shiners after first trying jigs, spinners, and throwing cranks. They wind was very light and perfect for moving down canal banks and the water was a nice root beer color. We met a few other fishermen and women who were having about the same luck as us. It was an enjoyable trip without wind or heat. We need to do that again and explore deeper into the marsh.

Sorry no pictures this time but a good time all the same.
