    Default Crankin' @ Larto Today

Went to drag some Cranks at Larto today. Had to wade thru some small catfish and goo early, but finally got it dialed in. Fished 11 feet deep in 15 fow. I didn't count them yet, but I think I have about 20-25. And now the pics.... enjoy.

Thanks for the report. I love that lake but have never tried crankin it. I do have some crank baits though, will have to try that the next time I make it up there.

Went a little deeper, 75 ft of line to 90 ft. Also changed colors. Half the poles were chartreuse and the other half were pink. Switched all poles to pink. HTH

I've fished Larto for about 10 years now, but always in the colder months. I was looking for something to try during the summer and researched the subject here on the forum. I decided to give it a try and have been mostly successful. I'm still learning and every trip out IS a learning experience. What I've learned so far; start your depth shallow and work deeper. If you are marking fish and they won't bite, move and try to find a school that is more active. If you are catching trash fish; gar, goo or catfish; change colors. You probably won't catch big numbers, but they will be quality fish. 20-25 fish is a great day. I find that I have better success fishing around the feeding periods according to the lunar tables. This is what I have learned fishing Larto this summer. I have yet to try other local lakes. I'm going to continue trolling to see how far it takes me into the fall and winter.
