I have had a few of those on my line......fight like crazy.......
Took a ride on the levee this evening and found some fishermen...thought everyone might get a kick out of this!!!
They weren't the only ones I saw with catches like this!

I hope they catch a million of them and a few million carp and garfish.

Where was that?
Andrews, he thought you said what was that. The location is the levee at Ramah. Off interstate 10 I would assume. Good bank fishing at times. Based on the catch the water may have been black and clear.

I gave some sacalait to my Vietnamese neighbor a few times. Later he asked what kind of fish they were. Brought him a big choupique and he said, "Now that's a good fish there!!!"

I used to take a pirogue down to Bodcau spillway and paddle around just to fish for the choupique for fun. A few times someone on the bank would want them, but I mainly just caught and threw them back. Kept 20 lb test on the reel and they'd tow the front of the boat back and forth during a fight. Haven't done that in years, but maybe something I should plan on this spring.
