Default Toledo Bend gathering food/supply list

The new year is here, and the gathering is next month. As with the previous events, a potluck will be on Friday evening, and the fry will be Saturday evening. Both to be held in the enclosed pavilion/lodge. I believe we eat the best when it comes to crappie.com gatherings. Lots of room for lots of folks. A full kitchen is there for anyone that needs it, plenty of tables and chairs, etc. as most of you folks know. I'll start off with what we're bringing.

Friday will be my crawfish etouffee (Danny - please make the rice again for me). You folks seem to like that. Saturday, I'll bring gator again to fry in my tempura batter. Also will have my fryer and oil. I'll also bring a bag of crappie filets just in case not enough fish is caught. Malt vinegar and aluminum serving trays as well. Will have cellos for everyone to try and take home. And, of course, I'll have the 90 quart cooler in the back of my truck as always for everyone.

The more fryers, the better. That way it won't take so long. On a personal note, sure wish someone would prepare some good old fashion hush puppies. Ann, being from Kentucky, doesn't know a good hush puppy.

I will bring up the pans, plates and dinnerware from last year. I think we have enough. We will need paper towels and I will get that and anything else we may need as far as things to eat with. I'll cook the rice Randy. Of course I'll have some pecan pies. I was thinking if it's cool, a good veggie soup/chili at the pavillion thursday instead of El Giro's might do. We could even have several people bring their version and call it a thursday soup/chili pot luck. Then we could safely drink our beer, stay off the roads and have our shrimp peeling party. I would be willing to make a pot full if y'all want. We could have crackers and maybe corn bread to go with it. Danny

Good idea Danny, no, a great idea "D".

Randy I might be able to do the hush puppies. I ate some of the best ever a few weeks ago and will have the recipe in my hands soon. I have to break it down for smaller portions and cook some up to see if they compare. If successful, I will gladly provide them. I'm not much on hush puppies although I taste them often, but these were the lightest and best I've ever eaten.

I'll bring six gallon fryer with oil, smoked pork ribs, and baked beans. Also one large container of Zatarains seasoned fish fry.

Excellent folks, I'll update the list after a couple more entries.

Danny, that's a great idea about Thursday night at the pavilion. I'm all for that if everyone agrees. I'll make a real Texas chili - with red chili. Some you guys know what I'm taking about.

Okay,I'll make a big pot of shoot the works vegetable soup. Anyone else that will make one add it to the list. We will need crackers and corn muffins.
