like that hub idea.......
Only place I buy bearings from in Lafayette is the old Nolan's Bearings which is now called Bearing Service off Jefferson/Taft. They carry Timken bearings which are the best hands down. They have everything in stock to do a bearing job on a trailer, grease, buddy bearings, seals, grease guns, etc etc. It's nothing to change yourself, very simple. Plenty of good tips on this thread. Only thing I'll add is don't over tighten the castle nut once you put the hub back on, it will cause the bearings to get hot fast. Rule of thumb is put the tire back on the hub once you're finished the bearing job but before you put your dust cap/buddy bearing on and make the wheel spin at a decent speed with your hand. Slowly tighten the castle nut until you stop the wheel. Back off a 1/4 turn and put the cotter pin in. It's always good to check your bearings after your first trip on them too. Sometimes they don't seat correctly at first and if this happens they'll become loose after you roll it. Good luck!
