I really think that a license should be required to operate a boat in the state of Louisiana. There are some folks in Henderson and the basin in general who have zero respect for safety or just totally don't care. Jason and I witnessed a guy pass no farther than 20 feet from a guy fishing right up against the bridge. Add to that there was another guy using his trolling motor to cross over to the other side and this guy just split the two rocking the heck out of them. Saturday and Sunday just proved to me why I really do not like fishing near that bridge.

For people that don't know better. It's better for a bass boat to pass wide open throttle. Then to slow down. We run hot foots. Which is a gas pedal. And the faster you go trimmed up you don't make a big wave.

Mr. I don't fish those pilling
I'm calling BS on that one RGG.

I've had hundreds maybe thousands of bass boats pass me me with little to no wake.

A bass boat like any other boat wont make a big wake at idle. It's part throttle that's the problem. I don't appreciate any kind of boat passing within 20 feet of me at wide open throttle no matter how small the wake. You can talk until you're blue in the face but you will never convince me that it's safer to pass at high speeds close to another boat. The couple of minutes lost at idle could save you a lifetime of regrets. Just saying and not trying to start a long useless thread about wakes.

All boats are loaded different. Our boat stays with 50 gallons of fuel and live wells filled which is another 35 gallons of water. And all tackle and gear. That's also dual power poles. Everyone has there own opinion. At the end of the day the boat operator is reasonable. For his wave. As long as he don't flip a boat or hurt someone. Nothing can be done . I was stopped by a game warden for so said careless operation cause we was running 50 mph and hit a wave of a ski boat and boat came out of water. He wanted to write me a ticket. I told him to do so and I see him in court. Cause if I want in a 21ft bass boat going that fast they would of sunk me. And he didn't wright a ticket. Just told me have a good day.
