Well Derek I know when we fish in the Skeeter it's a 21 foot boat with 50 gallons of fuel and tournament live wells that are full of water it 5 batteries and gear and me and Vick in it and when you take your foot off the gas pedal the boat idles just fine with no wake at all what I'm saying is you would have had to be out there to see what we mean me and you have fished around each other many many times and never have you heard a complaint from me because you never did that and neither did I and we aren't saying all these were bass boats either!!!!

This is an important issue for everybody on the water in Henderson. It won't go away just because we can't learn to disagree in a friendly way. I think we should keep high speed traffic separate from effects of wakes. To me in a kayak speed kills and a wake is just a momentary aggravation. Bad wakes can come from power boats of all size and horsepower. Sometimes the operator gives the same wake he is willing to receive thinking that's ok. "Do unto others" as it goes. It can be pretty subjective.

I really feel sorry for the guy giving fast idle and pushing a swell. He's probably a guy with little experience and is clueless. I used to holler stuff at them, but my son-in-law has taught me to calm down and I'm happier for it. Oh and by the way I'm thinking of getting a power boat. Another thread for that though.

I had a guy pass in between me and another boat once, he was driving an older model bass boat with those old tower power Mercs, sounded like he had modified exhaust or something because that thing was screaming! If he wasnt doing 60mph when passing in between us, then I dont know. But, this was in the cut from the Blvd to go to south Pelba, passing at that rate of speed, in between two boats, with very little room for error. I have a 20hp on a flat bottom I dont throw much wake, but he caught one of my waves as he was passing me and I all thought we were going to be goners because he entire boat came out the water, bit sideways, bow under water.... and guess what? He never let off the throttle... I feel like I dodge a bullet every time I fish in Henderson with all the dangerous things I see happening with inexperienced or just plain ignorant boaters.. YALL DRIVE NICE NOW

I lot of guys don't understand. The bass fisher that tournament fish are used to driving at fast speeds cause they have a certain amount of time to fish and are used to operating the boats. We go to
Toledo bend and runs 6-7 foot swells at what ever speed we have to so we can stay on top of them instead of taking a Beatin.
