Sorry for your loss
My mentor Passed away last night. Anybody Southwest Louisiana in to crappie fishing may have had the fortune to meet J.D. Courtney. A great lure and rod builder. Wonderful family man as well as one the most passionate crappie fisherman I've ever known. I would sit in his shop and listen and learn. He shared a vast amount of knowledge with me. We would laugh and tell fishing stories. He was truly an amazing man and I'm gonna miss him. Mr. J.D. now you can catch those 3lbers everyday. RIP

You are right. I spent many hours talking about fishing. He knew what color to use to catch for every river and bayou in louisiana. He would ask where are you fishing and he would say you need this and that one. I have 2 of his rods and if I am tight lining there is not a better rod in my opinion. Last year I knew his health was declining and I bought over a 100 assorted jigs from him. No one could make a quality jig like the man. The closest I have found is in Hayes. The man who makes those copies JD lures. Old Mr. JD will surely be missed.
Never met him, but sounds like he was a treasure to his friends and the fishing community. His passing will be felt for a long time. Sorry to hear about it.
Heard about J.D. passing away the morning. He was a crappie master for sure. Crappie Addict, haven't heard from you in a while. How's the hunting been. Specklebelly hunting started out great, but has fallen off lately.
Prayers sent for comfort.
