    Prayer Request Northwest tips?

    Hey CDC!

I've been lurking around here for quite some time now.. I am still learning the tricks of the trade. Or at least I have thought.

I haven't had much luck at all catching crappie! I've tried a few times in different places. The only place I have lucked up and caught any has been on Caddo Lake around the oil platforms.

Ive given McDade and Whitehouse on the river, Port of Bistineau, and Caddo lake shots. Used shiners, plastic jigs, hair jigs, and even small crank baits a shot.

Can any of you fine fellas point a lost soul in the right direction?

    Thanks!
    DC

Welcome to the forum. I wish I could help, but lately I haven't been able to do any good either. I fish Ivan Lake in Bossier Parish a lot. For the past couple of weeks the bite has been slow to non-existent. Only thing I know to do is to keep tryin' and keep reading the forums.

Welcome to the forum. It seems like it's that time of year. It won't be long before fishing should get much better as we get closer to Spring.

Thanks RMG, I will keep at it. I'm going to install a fish finder on my boat in the next week or so to try to help me find underwater structure and all. Maybe that will give me a little more of an edge.

Thanks for the welcome PawPaw and fishervet!

Thats a great Idea..A fishfinder is a must...doesnt have to be a fancy one - something that will show your depth, and let you know theres structure. Find a brushpile, toss a buoy out on it, then try everything in the tacklebox till you get fish.

Going with an established crappie fisherman or a crappie guide will save you a lot of time. It would save you a lot of trial and error. The most important part is learning where not to fish and where you will probably find them. If you keep at it, it will come.
