Default Henderson Locks Opening ? Hmmmmm ?????

Obviously the locks are open now if you look at the gauge BUT......Doesn't anyone else find it coincidental that they open the locks on Thursday or Friday just in time to create a weekend frenzy for the weekend fisherman? There are way more people available to fish on the weekends so the economic impact is much greater that way. Fishing revenue is a huge part of income for Henderson. To be clear ... I am not accusing anyone of anything I just thought it was sketchy since I have been tracking the gauge lately, and the fact that someone had mentioned politics regarding this matter before. Just wondering if anyone else had the same thoughts?

Wouldn't surprise me at all they do this on lake eufaula! The major weekends the will make sure the lake is full so everyone can play then the next week they are dropping it again! Funny how that works... They are always fluctuating the lake during the spawning season also which doesn't help the beds that are left high and dry...

I don't think so. If a bunch of people chime in saying they made there plans because the locks are open then maybe. There is always a weekend frenzy because Henderson is so close to Lafayette and B.R.

Exactly. It really doesn't matter. It's both ignorant and irresponsible to be concerned about such things.

Hadn't thought about it. But makes sense. IMO politics should have some input on this a long with the science of the weed control management.

I would think the main purpose of the lake complex is recreation and flood control.

Thanks Tracker 123 for the great feedback! I am glad to know I am ignorant and irresponsible for asking other peoples opinion on a message board :-) I am just concerned there won't be enough water left to hide from all of the Potlockers this week !!! LMAO !!! Just to let you know I value your opinion about as much as Obama's...Have a great day :-)

Everyone in Louisiana has the right to enjoy our wonderful natural resources. Regardless if it disrupts someone's fishing. It's unfortunate that some do not have the same opinion as I.

My understanding is they are drawing Henderson down in a effort to get rid of some weeds and moss and stuff.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.
