Well me and a buddy from work made the run up to the chicken coop yesterday. We started at around 8:45 and fished to around 2:45.
The bad news.......They weren't biting!!! The good news.......They got a few weeks to get that straightened out before we all get up there and hammer them! lol
We finished with 7 for the day but 4 of those 7 were over a pound so the ones we did catch were nice. Everything was caught on shiners. I did try just about every color jig I had in my box (I even tried elec. chicken, those that know me, know I hate that color!), nothing, nadda, not even a bump!
We fished every depth from 20 foot to 40 foot with the majority of our fish coming out of 30 foot of water. You had to be right on the bottom to get anything. Didn't see anyone else doing any better either.
Here are the pictures.
Me with a nice one.
And the small mess for the day.

Thanks for posts and pic. I recognize the area in the background. Wife and I went 12/28-12/29. We caught 54 total. Then it was the calmest I have ever seen at TB. Good thing since we motored over from North Toledo Bend SP. I found out like you that you need shiners and be right on the bottom in 30 fow. Where did you launch? Worst thing about where we stayed is having to cross the lake to get to a rest room. Also I can't count the number of hang ups. Used 10 lb main line and 8 lb leader. Straightened a lot of hooks but didn' t lose to many 1/2 oz egg sinkers.

Boy that is a shame, must be the weather, maybe the fronts have them all messed up. I have heard several times guys were doing good and yes I am pretty sure shiners. Sorry y'all didn't kill them.
i was hoping for the opposite of the Coop though, I want the water tems to get on the mid 50's so they start shallow. That is my time to shine.

Nice crappie Shadow; I would rather have 7 like that than 27 dinks.
We went Saturday..really rough with big wind, soooo I put on the old kill switch. First tie up I forget the kill switch and pull it off..tried putting it back on and it kept popping off. Trolling motor to the dock with the red roof..hit stump and trolling motor now vibrating like crazy. Finally get to the dock and tie up..try putting kill switch back on and it finally pops off and goes straight into Toledo Bend...my brother tells me "now you can call Randy' (a friend with camp)..good ole Randy comes from Youngs near 1215 all across the lake and tows us in, gets sopping wet fighting the waves and helps us load the miserable boat.
I bring it to Don at MidLake Marine and he calls me this morning and laughs at me...great weekend, lol!!!!!
