    Default Charter experiences

    Hi all

Good morning. I know as much as fishing as I do about nuclear physics. So I am looking to hire a charter fisherman that can show me the basics such as baiting a line, casting a reel, cleaning fish and all of the other basics. I'm looking for speckled trout. I don't want to hire somebody that will only allow me to catch a lot of fish, but won't spend time on at least spending time on how to clean the fish. I think watching somebody for several minutes would do the trick.

So does anyone have any experiences with charter captains that would genuinely show me these things versus someone who is just making a quick $? I would be looking for anywhere between Houma up to the Northshore.

    Thank you

I'd ask em if they could satisfy my wishes. I bet most would.

I'm not from your area so I am not familiar with any of the captains, but as far as filleting your catch there are a lot of good videos on youtube that are pretty detailed.

Thank you dr. There are some excellent videos, but I also wanted to see first hand.

Hey WDC! Welcome to the board! I'm not sure of your geographic location you're targeting, but we have a member that used to live in NW LA that has switched to saltwater and has a charter service. Most of the people that have been here a while know him as FishinMagician (Markham), and I can tell you that he's earned the name. He's very down to earth and helpful. Should you choose to use his charter services, I don't believe you'll be disappointed with anything he can control.....never know when fish will bite though. lol Here's his website. Look it over and you let us know if you end up making a trip with him and how it goes.

As Scott has said, you can't beat this guy! He is also a personal friend and I don't think you will find a more helpful guide. I would call him pretty quick though b/c He is ALWAYS on the go. Tell him that you are a member of crappie dot com and he may have a special, but I can't promise that. Markham is an all around great guy and being a guide was one of his dreams so he is not just about the money. I don't use guides but if I did, I believe this would be the ONLY one I would use for salt water. You won't be disappointed in him!

He is out of New Orleans area

I hired Markham this summer for a saltwater trip...the guy is awesome! I had never met him before that day but it was like we had known each other forever. He is one of the most down to earth guys I have ever met. I would definitely call him...

Check out Don Dubuc's website. He interviews some pretty nice sounding guides down your way on his Saturday radio show.
