I buy a super sized roll each year about this time off of ebay. I prefer the 12#. it will last me all year. and I don't have the wasted amount on the end of a spool like I did with several small sized rolls. I always respool about 25 reels before we go to darbonne. the big roll normally costs me about 45$+shipping. but it is only an annual expense and I can live with that.

Had breakage issues with the 6 and 8 MC line too. Switched to Vicious HiViz and love it. I did find the small filler spools were 50/50 in quality but the bulk spools of Vicious HiViz have all been perfect. Over 2000 yards for about $8 off Monk's Crappie web site. Second choice would be the Stren Gold when you can get it. Its good stuff too.

Mono or Braid??? I never use braid before, but been thinking about it lately due to some breakage with mono.

I like Vicious Florocarbon 10# when there finiky but use 15-20# braid fishing cover most of the time. Braid is tough and I like the way it fishes; got a good feel.

Stren Gold. Haven't seen the need to change.
