It might be iffy now. My experience is that it can vary from year to year. I've accessed the river when it was about 8-9 feet (in a rather small boat) and got stuck hard one time when it was about 10. If you're going from the lake to the river be very careful when you arrive at the river rock jetty, particularly if the current is strong (which it probably is now). You have to make a sharp turn to the left and can find yourself stuck on a mud bar before you know it.

Around 11 ft. is what I've heard if you want to be safe. Call Yacatan Landing and ask Mr. James. 318-467-2259

I just checked the river stage and it is at 9ft at vicksburg,You may not can come in from the river.I was told by someone who has fished there his whole life that at 9ft you could not enter through the river.he said the problem wasn't not enough water in the ditch that leads to the river, but was where the ditch emptied into Yucatan,he said there was a build up of mud and sand from the water running out of ditch that made it difficult to get through.

My motive for the post was to have a gar goo contest. Everyone knows the goo and gar are all that is left. Advice is to leave your line at home and use a chain. I even saw a huge goo run a gator up on the bank the other day. Have not seen a snake in several years. Think the gar cleaned them out.
