    Default BLack Bayou Hosston report

The crappie are sporadically starting to bite. The size is not as good as previous years so far for me, although good if you can catch them really biting (hard to do for me!!!)
The bass are awesome IF you can catch them biting. When they're not biting, all I catch are "keepers".
They're also starting on Caddo but biting periods are hard to catch. I've got my best guide (retired dad ) on the job but he said he fished until 12 noon before they bit without catching a fish, then they bit slow for about an hour.

I was up ther last night and this morning. Since I was alone and my boat is a small one, I decided not to go out in all this wind.
You can bet though I will be back now that tey are starting to bite.

I did not get your PM to me. It has not shown up

It is a neat lake for fishing. It is a shallow lake in most places with the depth 6 -7 feet or less except in the main channel. Lot of trees and stumps in the lake that you can fish around. The downside is that the lake gets real grassy in the summer but that problem is being addressed and hopefuly the lake will be much better for the efforts. Not only is it a good crappie lake, the bass and bream are good there too.

You will eenjy that lake. One word of caution. Do not try to go anywhere fast. LOts of stumps and other things in the water.
Be careful even in the main channel. Other than that enjoy yourself. I think this lake is one of the most underrated fishing lakes around.

I am headed up there tomorrow so see if I can catch a bream or two. I have had enough work for the week so I am ready to relax and drown a worm.

    Charliee,
We are catching quite a few bream on jigs and ultralights today. We even found one spot where they're trying to bed up. Weird,

    Bayoumonster,
We did not do so well. We used red wigglers and fished off our dock. Only caught three. I had the wife and a freind of hers with me so they were not really interested in putting a boat in the water. We did enjoy the peace and quiet and just getting away. I was nice even though we did not catch much. I wil be back next saturday to try my luck again.
