    Default polarized lenses

What is your choice in polarized lens color for fishing? I have bought polarized glasses from like walmart but they usually only have a very dark gray that knocks out some glare but is so dark its difficult to see down in the water. I'm looking to invest in a good pair of costa del mar but dont know what color lens to get! Any help would be appreciated!

Anything mirrored. This is what cuts glare to 1. help you see under the water and 2. not have to strain your eyes all day. I have Stringer Blue Mirrored. ( Costa Del Mar) The green mirrored comes with Amber lenses on the interior so what you see is brighter. I prefer the darker lenses on the interior (blue mirror contains dark lenses) I can see every limb I'm dropping it by under the surface a ft down in murky water. Clear water it's pretty scary what you can see. At Caney you can see the red ears on chinquapin in 3-5fow. These are high dollar but are phenomenal. Best glasses I've ever owned and won't own anything else. Colors hues are very rich and sharp looking through them. (Grasses are greener) They've made me a better fisherman just from seeing where I'm dropping my jig to reduce hang ups, waste less time. Ebay has them new 100.00 cheaper than retail stores.

Check places like Steep and Cheep and Sierra Trading Post for some inexpensive Costas.

I use Strike King Pro Series SG-35 "Mangrove" Tortoise Shell Frame that has a Vermillion with/ Green Mirror Lens. I buy these from my local Wal-Mart for about 20 bucks. Just look for the SG-35 "mangrove". I can sightfish redfish in the ponds with these, I can shoot fish in the middle of the day with my fishing bow, and my last crappie trip I was fishing stained water 1 foot under a cork and could watch the crappie suck in the jig. They penatrate the water great. The pair I have now I been having for two years. Not a scratch on them.

I use FishGillz glasses for the last couple of years and they are the best I have ever bought. They weigh only half an ounce, use 3M polarized lenses, float if you drop them in the water, have side lenses built in, and cost a whopping 50-60 bucks. I forget I even have them on and so many fishing guides rave about them for spotting fish under the water. Just go to youtube and type in FishGillz and look at all the video reviews of them.
I still have a $6 pair of Academy sports polarized glasses I carry as a backup in the tackle box but my FishGillz never fail me. They also look cool and when I bought mine I got a free carrying case and cleaning cloth but I'm sure most companies give you that anyway.

If you have doubts, Gander Mountain has a youtube video talking about them. It's on this page:
Gander Mountain® > FishGillz Coastal Series Polarized Sunglasses - Apparel > Sunglasses :

Also gander has them for $39.99 but I'm not sure if that is just for the coastal series or all of the different styles.

here is the direct link to FishGillz website as well:

I use the mirrored ones from academy. They are cheap so if I drop them in the water, I can afford to go buy some more. I usually buy a pair every spring and throw the old ones in my boat or on the 4wheeler so if I lose a pair, I just grab the old ones.

Costa Del Mar 580 glass green mirror. Well worth the investment. This is an all around great lens. I can see several feet down in clear water while fishing. Sight fishing is made easy with them. When I am outside, I ALWAYS have them on because I love how they take away the strain sunlight can put on my eyes. They make everything so crisp and clear. I not only use them for fishing, but for traveling, golf, or even just hanging around outside. I have tortoise harpoons and hubby has wave killers. He wears his all the time too. Can't beat the lifetime warranty. They really honor it.
