    Default South Louisiana Lease Info

    Hi,
I am new to the forum & am hoping a few of my fellow fisherman can help steer me in the right direction. I live in the Lafayette area & I'm looking to find a spot to lease for my travel trailer that is near some good lake or Basin fishing within a couple hours drive of Lafayette. I'm hoping to find a good location to set-up & leave my camper at so my family & I can enjoy fishing weekends without having to haul both the camper & the boat. Anyone know of anything or have an idea of where to look? Thanks for any help!

Welcome to the forum promero.....I fish mainly out of Stephensville on Hwy 70 just North of Morgan City......there is a campground right on Belle River in Stephensville....don't know the name....it does have a launch and they recently upgraded the piers.....don't know the cost....you would have access to all water East and North of hwy 70 which includes Lake Verrett, Grassy Lake, Belle River and all the bayous in the area....you are also within boating distance for speck and red fishing.....also, there are boat launches very close with access to the basin ...mainly, Doirons Landing and Adams Landing....about 8 miles north of Stephensville on Hwy 70 there is another campground on hwy 70 on Belle River called Cajun Campground....launch is available.....I am pretty sure the sites run around $300 month.....hope this helps....

Thanks, Prefers Shiners. I fished Stephensville once with a friend of mine many years ago. We fished there, as well as Burns Point for Reds & Specks. We also used to put down @ Verdunville Landing & fish that area of the Basin for sac-a-alit & Bream. Will have to do some checking around these areas to see if I can get a long-term lease. Would love to find a landowner or state lease where I could permanently set up a camp, but may have to go the campground route if nothing comes open.

Anyone else have any ideas on land to lease for a "Fishing "Camp" within a couple hours drive of Lafayette?

Welcome to CDC, you can rent a spot from Wayne Sanders (Sanders Value Mart) at Larto or Uncle Bud's too. Sanders always has people there to watch your stuff when your not there and Uncle Bud's has shade and I am sure they will keep an eye on your stuff too. When I rented from Wayne I would leave my boat there too, never had any problems of any kind.
