I tried using horse food (pellets), but didn't let it sit in a bucket for 1 week (to sour).
Went out to Toledo Bend for eclipse, It was beautiful, but caught 1 sac a lait, yes 1.
Do ya'll let it sink to the bottom? Iwas fishing in 38 ft water.
Have that feelin, eclipse shook it up!!
How deep to fish w shiners?

Thanks for checking in with us. Welcome to crappie.com and the LA Board, glad to have another member. I watched the eclipse too, it was a beautiful sight, but I couldn't say how it may have effected the fishing. Been a tough fishing summer and fall this year here in N. LA, but we manage to catch a few. In regards to your question, if they are shallow, say less than 8 ft., I would put the bait on or close to bottom. If they are suspended, try to hang it a few feet above them in deep or shallow water, they seldom go down for bait. It depends entirely on where they are in the water column. Thanks for your report, Angela, and best of luck to you. Keep those posts coming, we love to read them.
