    Default Bayou Benoit Trip

A buddy and me went to Bayou Benoit to catch a few paper mouths. The water looked good, but we only managed one sac-a-lait. We cranked up and went to the sandy cove pit. We managed to boat eight more sac-a-lait and two goggle-eye’s. I know Deacon and Sacalait Steve fish this area sometimes, so I wanted to post the trip.

Thanks for the post sacalait slammer. looks like you had a good trip. I think
Deacon went sunday and caught a few there, he said he caught a bass that went about 5 pounds also. where did you pick them up? there is a couple nice trees in the water that produce a few nice ones they are all on the levee side of the pit about 15 feet off the bank all along the side of the pit.
my favorite one is closer to the front and you really need to look to see the branches just under the surface.

It was around the middle of the pit near the point that is on the right side as you head back to the landing road. We picked them off at two tree stumps under the water. One was before the point on the right side of the pit and the other was right past the point on the levee side of the pit. How did Deacon do that day?

Sacalait slammer he didn't catch a lot of sacalait cause he got there late
he had gone to the black bear pit but couldn't stay his 10'ter developed a bad leak so he had to go home and repair it then he decided to go to sandy cove since it was closer. I want to say he may have only caught 2 or 3
if it's more than that and he reads this it won't take him long to correct me LOL. I have priced an alluminumn canoe for a little over $300.00 then I stopped at Himel Marines and priced a new 10 ft jon boat the jon boat is $499.00 I think I will save alittle more and get the jon boat cause it would be safer and more comfortable. I have been putting my trailer boat down in the pit with no landing and it's starting to take a toll on the trailer.

Save your money little brother. When I got back from BB Pit and told Donna about my adventure of almost sinking she told me I could get a new pull-over for Christmas. I will have the old one welded to stop the leak and I was planning on giving it to you.

I caught one nice sacalait and that large bass at Sandy Cove pit. That was it.
I really did not try by the stumps. I was mostly playing with the depth finder and trying to locate fish in deeper water.
I can't leave now; They fixen to turn on.
