Thanks for all the replies guys. These are insain fish. Got my sister down here as of a couple days ago and she already got her a good one! :D

And just a little bit of what it takes to land the bigger ones... After a big one broke our rod holder welded into a seat pole we had to engineer a new one. Here we are on the bow with all the tools trying to make something sturdy enough to be pulled on by the clydsdale horse of the sea!

Notice the concerned look on my pop's face. We kept discussing where it was going to give... lol its got a steel seat plate under the deck too with 10 bolts with nuts through both. HEH so far they have not pulled the under seat plate through the deck. We call the holder Plank by name because the 4x4 board is part of what keeps it from bending down.

Another huge fish, don't look like Maddie was afraid to get in the water with them either.... I don't think I would....lol....... good to see the whole family getting in on some of the fun...... as for your rod holder, only thing I could think off right off hand would be to put a flat plate on the edge of the boat, connected to the bottom of the rod holder, and having an upright brace straight up to the bend in the holder. that would eleminate the 4x4. But if you found something that works, you may want to stick with it...lol

i will have to say it is always an adventure with Markum, i couldn't imagine the whole family that would be interesting. However the picture of your pops looks like it was a huge project or maybe a jig saw puzzle. but it is surely some southern engineering.
