Our local bait shop gets $4.00 a dozen and can name reach by name . Can't see paying $32.00 for a tournament . Same guy delivers 15 miles down the road gets $2.00 a dozen . Go figure .
You know it’s frustrating as heck when places decide to go to the by the pound count on minnows and then I’m gonna sit up there and you tell them you’d like around 30 and they’re gonna count the dang things one at a time and give you exactly 30. you know they’re not even accounting for the few that die

Same thing here, had to stop and recount a few times, as they might be 1 over. Can’t have that.

I drive 10 miles one way out of the way when I purchase minnows
#1 reason Local American owned
#2 reason $20.00# or $11.00 1/2#
I pass up 2-3 places that has minnows but they are $2.50 and $3.25 per dozen and at those places they
count them individually and 0 xtra! And I guess it’s where they handle them mortality rate is very high !

3.00 a dozen most places here. One place sells them for 14.00 a scoop. Depends on who is working which size scoop they use. LOL

Buying by the pound which I usually do, I have found the size of the minnows determine the actual quantity. I bought some this spring that were a struggle to put on the hook they were so small. Use to when I was a kid, most bait shops had them seperrated by size but I am not finding that now.

Place I go to counts every damn one out... so when i go in and ask for small or mediums and watch them count Ill open up my container and then see how many are actually large x large and tell them i want that many more back since every ones counting today. Need to find a place that uses a scoop to count minnows and not that nonsense.
You think he size makes a different ?

I just got back into fishing, but it sounds like I was just blessed in the past. We had a few stores that sold by pound but could estimate the count per pound.

It is not what you do for your children, but what you have taught them to do for themselves, that will make them successful human beings.

I don't use them but many do . Some sell by lb or 1/2 lb . If you fish alot some places or fish farms will sell them in bulk to the public . Here most have 6 lb min purchase . I think at the farm they were about 4.50 a lb . The size many use are #6 which is 6 lbs per thousand . We used to keep a big tank years ago .
