Just an update on using Freezer with Ranco controller...got controler set between 70 and 75 and freezer plugged into it.. It all sits on Patio and temp Outside running mid 90s day and high 70s at nite..........I got worm bins stacked and spaced(with wood)enough for air circulation... got the drain plug removed and leave lid on freezer slightly cracked for fresh air
Temp inside averages about 72-73 working great..
..matter fact so good thinking about doing simular with a couple 30gal barrels or Aquarium in another freezer and store /raise (minners)
Dan,
Glad you found a solution for that texas heat! Did you manage to contain the african nightcrawelers, and are your swamp worms breeding like crazy? One of my worm beds has over 100,000 by now, man those things are prolific!
Techno, the only vendor that sells swamp worms is Mission Worm – Mission Worm
They are kind of expensive to start with but they breed so fast that it's a non issue.
Commercial worm farmer, but presently sold out until further notice.Techno2000 thanked you for this post
I may have missed it but is there a size difference in the swamp worms and the European worms?
Thanks
I don't have euro nc ....But My Swampers are a little bigger than Red wigglers...and smaller than my Africans
Dunk LIKED above post
Swamps are bigger than reds but much smaller than euros. They make it up for it, though. They breed much faster than the europeans.

Do you grind up the chicken feed and rabbit pellets for the worms
Yes I grind up chicken and rabbit feed. It makes it easier for them to eat it quickly. Big pellets would lay on top of the bedding for too long and could possibly turn acidic.

Thank you and that’s what I figured I will get some of the rabbit pellets to mix with the chicken laying mash. I just started 2 bins with the euros.
