I like the idea of using the temp control on the freezer to regulate the bedding. I've never thought of that, it's a genus idea.
Coolers do make worm bins. The best dept for your bedding is between 12 and 16 inches. You'd have to elevate them on bricks and such and use drainage holes. If you have a light on the worms they won't go anywhere at night, so no screen needed!

That Chest freezer idea gave me another Idea, 2 matter of fact. #1 Get old beat up working freezer and modify to control at 70 or so deg(its adjustable with RANCO (electronic temp controller) and could use heat lamp in winter which is mostly mild where I live on Patio.. #2 What about a couple old Igloo Ice chest about 100 Quart size..There too beat up to transport anymore...But watertite almost...How deep would media have to be????...maybe they too shallow..could cover with screen and light at nite on patio (shaded)...
