Default Herrington Lake (Dead Sea report)

Went to Herrington Yesterday morning, about the same as usual for me, they don't call it the dead sea for nothing. I put in at Bryants Camp about 7:30, I was only the second boat in the parking lot. Water temp was 52 degrees when I left, I had one bite and it was probabaly on my 5th cast, had a nice, probabaly close to 13 inch crappie to the top of the water and lost him when he got wrapped around a limb. Never had a bite the rest of the day. I tried to go toward the island and fish but the lake was DIRTY, logs everywhere, I turned around for fear of losing my new stainless steel prop. We went back and fished almost all the way to Rankins bottom. Theres lots of cover to fish in the water from the Ice storm damage. I didn't have any luck and broke off at least 20 times. Some guys said they was doing pretty good, we left about 3:00 and I bet there was 40 boats on the way back to Bryants, I bet every stick up was fished 200 times that day. I've never seen this many boats down in that area fishing, I guess EVERYONES to Cabin fever. I'm going to have to learn how to fish somewhere further north up the lake. Any other reports or information would be nice.

Thanks for the report. We find Herrington a tough spot to fish, but we never get enough time over there to do much serious exploring.

Catching that first fish on the 5th cast is tough. It puts you in mind where you're gonna tear them up, and then nothing the rest of the day. If I'm only going to catch one fish, I'd rather catch it in the last half hour of fishing than in the first.

I love to fish that lake for them crappies but just hate all the trash in that lake after a rain, I have got caught up on pallets, logs, just trash and lots of dings in my jell coat from that lake. I have not been there this year yet but hope to soon, will give report after I make it there.
