    Default Can one make a..........

New Years resolution in March? I tell ya, i started going through my tackle a last weekend and i have found so many crappie baits still in the package that it got me to wonder. Could i make a resolution and not buy a single crappie jig this year until i at the very least use what i have bought in previous years. I sort of started shaking at the thought. Funny thing is, i can just about pattern the same types, colors, and styles that i buy year after year, i just seem to have the keen knack for re-loading with the same sort of baits that work year after year. I guess taking a mental inventory isnt working too well anymore. I can bet that i am not the only one in this boat.

    Good fishin,

I used to do that. I have 3-4 large boxed FULL of crappir jigs and stuff that has never been wet. Older I get the more that stuff sits in the tackle box. I know they will work. Always have....

I may give mine all away and do like I always do and buy a few dozen minners and let it go at that. Why fix what works?

You better buy em up before they quit carrying them. Every time I find something I like they quit stocking them.

    Default Crappie Baits

Nobody likes a quitter. There are worse habits to have. If it makes you feel good, keep buying. I quarantee you are spending much less on the occasional crappie lure spending spree than your wife/girlfriend's clothing habit.

    Exclamation Mistertwister ....

you certainly ain't alone, in that catagory :D

I'm right there with ya !!

I'd almost bet that I have more baits, in my tackle boxes, that have never been used .... than ones that HAVE :p
And yet, I still find myself picking up, looking over, and purchasing even more baits that may never feel a hook, a fish, or lake water upon them.

It's gotta be a symptom of the disease that racks my brain & body ... Crappiefishinosis, I think it's called
Either that, or I'm trying to self-medicate my addiction, with a seperate and just as powerful addiction. Could it be that other disease ... can't remember the scientific name, but it translates as "I gotta have those, cause they look like they'll catch a Crappie"

I hear that the only cure for these afflictions, is plenty of time on the water - catching a mess of Crappie - and consuming mass quantities of freshly caught Slabs (prepared in your favorite coatings of choice).

It's getting close to time for me to start "taking my medication", before I succumb to treating the symptoms, with more self medicating purchases of baits that "might, or look like they'll catch fish" ... and have to purchase another "box" to carry them in :D

    ... cp

I seem to have the same problem, or is that a problem?? The way it is right now if the tackle shops all closed up I'd be set for life and still keep finding stuff that I think will catch fish. Now if I could just make all of it work.

It's not just crappie fishermen who have that problem. How many duck or turkey hunters buy the newest, best call ever made and it ends up in a box in the closet with all the other newest and best while you use your same old reliable? We all do it, that's what makes the economy go (regardless of what Obama says). I do find myself taking much more time to make a purchase decision now than in the past, even if it's on a pack of crappie jigs.

Well, i am glad i am not the only one. It really isnt a problem at all, just question my thought process sometime. Funny thing is, the wife hasnt got a clue, but i get on her all the time when i find clothes still hanging in our closet with the tags still on them.

Each time i find some article of clothing with the tags on them, cha ching! Means more fishing and hunting gear. I guess i really should start digging tags out of the garbage and find a way to put them back on the clothes, more ammo that way.

    Funny comments and thanks!
