I may be a little prejudice because Kentucky Lake is my favorite Lake in the State. The pros in my opinion are, I have caught more big Slabs on Kentucky Lake consistantly than anywhere else I have fished. Lake Barkley joins Kentucky Lake on the north end by a canal (Barkley is also an awesome Crappie Lake). The Lake is so big that even when the locals feel that it is crowded you still have plenty of space to fish. The only problems that I ever seem to have there is the wind. The Lake is so wide open that a little bit of wind can be a big problem, I know that you can usually find some place to get out of it,but where I fish most of the time if the wind is out of the East you might as well forget it. Also the weather this time of year can be a major factor. I am retired so I can fish just about anytime, so I can usually plan my trips according to the forecast (which are usually wrong). I live about 200 miles from the lake. Also during this time of year the lake is still at winter pool,so you have to be extremly careful to travel between the buoys near the channel, or you can do major damage to your boat or worse. If you dont watch where you are going you can be in 70 feet of water one minute and 2 feet the next. I am going to watch the forecast and hope to plan a trip there there about the same time if the weather cooperates.Good Luck and enjoy your trip.
