I guess my question is, why wouldn't it be? My dad used to keep his houseboat their for years and it was always open during the winter with just a little ice around the marina. I am sure flooding is not an issue right now.

I don't know for sure, but my guess would be that there is some significant icing in some places (esp after this ice storm :o ) As cold as it's been, the lake will probably have ice sheets around protected banks, bays, and back in the creeks.
I've seen it this way in previous years, and people still take their boats out on it :p ... you can hear the ice chunks hitting the hull & prop

I have fished it during the Dec thru Feb timeframe, and caught fish .... but, I'd recommend waiting until at least late March (given our current weather trends, over the last few years).

Go here to check on current water levels : Louisville District Daily Lake Report

Then click on the "Today's Pool Feet" number, across from Taylorsville Lake ... that will take you to a graph with the previous years water levels & rain amounts, and show you "when" the lake is most apt to be flooded. Unfortunately, it seems to always happen during the Spring spawn timeframe ... or, at least is has for the last few years. Here's a direct link to that graph : http://www.lrl.usace.army.mil/wc/res...plots/tvl.html

I was hoping someone had been out on the lake..Thanks Larry
